GrandMother's Pearls

When I was very young, the one constant and wonderful thing in my life was my Grandmother. She taught me needlecrafts like crochet, knitting, embroidery and so much more.  She was patience and love always.  I loved her dearly and still do, and keep the connection with in my crafts every day.  Earlier today I was thinking and talking about her so I made a card that represents so many things about my Grandmother.

I loved this card so much I am using it as my Easel Card in Betty's Fancy Fold Swap.

Double Pocket

Loved making this card, love the papers, love the colours, love the image!!  This is a double pocket card for Betty's Fancy Fold swap on SCS.

The image is from Penny Black and is coloured with Vivid Ink Olive and watercolour pencil for the flower.

Over the martini glass a SU stamp with the simple word sparkle.

The ribbon is satin edged in gold and I used Vivid Ink Olive to dye it to the colour I wanted, then tied a lovely bow over the bottom pocket.

Finishing the focal is three sparkling rhinestones.

Each pocket/panel is faux stitched, giving another detail to tie all panels together.

WOOO HOOOOO pretty pics

Woo Hoo, I did it!! I have been thinking about it for a while and today I did it, I went and bought a neat little digital camera to take much better pics of my crafts.  It might also get me blogging more as now I don't have to worry about getting the mobile phone.... etc etc..

These are some flowers I have made recently.  I love fiddling with paper and punches and other things. As most know I love the journey better than the destination, so if I could make pieces or embellishments all the time I would be in heaven!!

On Wednesday at craft group we did pickpoint or stitch cards.  Here are the cards I used as my samples to show the girls what can be accomplished with this.  This is so pretty, but very time consuming.  I tend to do this as a winter craft so I can do stuff in the living room in the evening, rather than heat the craft room.  I would rather spend the heat money on craft supplies LOL.

And you might also note that I have learned to put a watermark of my name onto my photos.  Thanks to the Forest Ranger and the forest members on SCS for the chatter that let me know I could do that in Paint rather than worry about a photo program that I could not work out!!! Tee Hee

Hat Pins.....

All the talk of the Royal Wedding and the hats made my friend Sam think of those wonderful hat and corsage pins appearing on cards, so she decided to host a swap for them.  Below I have two prototypes for my spots in the swap.

What do you think??? Would you use them on a card, or should I try again for something more spectacular?

These are long pearl ended pins that I have had for ages and used in paper piercing for embroidery cards.  I had loads of them, so decided to use them if possible.  The coin is a US Dime and the end peices to stop the pin from being a danger are handmade using a bead within a bead and stoppered with silicone to make a secure end piece.

The pin on the left has wire wrapped around the beads and pin and a butterfly attached and each bead is adhered to the pin for stability.

The pin on the right has a heart charm attached with a double loop to the pin and a bead threaded and adhered to the pin.
