Sitting on a Mountain Top....

I love this little fellow, he is gorgeous.  Dani's Musical Challenge this week was 'Ain't no Mountain High Enough' and I thought he was perfect perched as he is.  Just lovely.

He is coloured with Tombow dual-tip pens and layered onto DP and embellished with that lovely ric-rac.  Very simple card, very easy to make.  Great for a child, great for me too!!

Gate Fold

Love being part of the Fancy Fold Card Swap.  This is my last card for this swap, the Gate Fold card.  This swap has made me think outside the square, and make something other than my usual fold the A5 cardstock down the cente and decorate the front.

I have found I love using doilies on my cards, and I love these punched flowers with pearl centres.

I just carried the colour theme inside and decorated the side panels and the corners of the centre panel.  Overall I like the card and hope that Betty does too!!

Crochet Flowers

Many years ago my grandmother taught me to crochet, and I have many examples throughout my home.  Now I thought I would make some little flowers for cards, as I see them everywhere and just love them.

Woo Hoo aren't they georgeous??? There are 3 singles of each colour and a double in each of the colours and a single silver ring in!!  These are being sent to Betty for the Fancy Folds Swap as a Hostie Gift.

The flowers are made with the following pattern.

Materials:
  • Knitting yarn 5ply or Crochet Cotton 5ply
  • Crochet Hook, size 2.5  or 3
  • Yarn needle
  • Assorted beads
Instructions:

Bottom layer or single flowers:
Chain 5, slip stitch to join. Ch 2, make 15 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.
*Single crochet into the next stitch.  Make 6 double crochet in the next stitch .(petal formed). Miss one stitch and then repeat from * to make a total of 5 petals, slip stitch to join, and fasten off.

Top layer for double flowers or single flowers:
Chain 2, make 5 single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, slip stitch to join. In the next stitch, make *1 single crochet, 3 double crochet, 1 single crochet, (petal formed). Repeat from * to make a total of 5 petals, slip stitch to join and fasten off.

Stack the top layer over the bottom layer, and sew together. Sew a cluster of beads of your choice in the center.

Take the Long Way Home

The inland of this state is just beautiful, the western side of the mountains where the land just lays flat and trees get further apart, real grazing country of the west where I spent some time as a child.  Hmm peace and tranquility.

This week on SCS, DellsDani's musical challenge was 'take a back road'.  How appropriate for this stamp from my new set from Stamp-It.  So inked it up, stamped, cut it out, coloured it in with w/c pencils.  Looks fantastic!!

Knew straight away that Pinecone and Parakeet were the only 2 colours to do justice to this, with a cardbase of Oatmeal.  What else to use as embossed background than Tim Holtz embossing folder Tree, and embellish with natural colours/items, brads, flower, raffid and a button!!  Perfect!!

'A' is for Angel in Training....

A is also for Amazing.... amazing that this card from finding the stamp to completion took me less than an hour!!! Since I usually take a day or so to shuffle paper and juggle a layout, this is truly amazing!!.

This is for Dani's Alphabet Challenge of SCS, my first time entry.  I am not usually good with challenges because I fiddle around so much, and suffle paper.  A real time waster/procrastinator.

I am starting to feel more confident in myself, wow only an hour on this one, and I like it even!!!

Waterfalls...

Hey I did this without any probs at all!! Can you believe it??? I was so worried, kept getting confused as to where to score, which way to fold, oh so confusing to me!!

This is for Betty's Fancy Fold Card Swap on SCS.  Ta-Dah!! My waterfall card!!

Front of card as it lays flat, don't you just love that little tassel that I made??? I love fiddling with things like that!!

And when you pull on that little tassel the card slider works and shows more images.  How cool is that???

Now I made the waterfall mechanism onto a card panel and put it onto an opening card.  I didn't know whether that was done or not, but I liked having the opening card and the opening slider.
